Text editor

When you add a new page or newsarticle, you will automatically use the built in text editor. The text editor can be compared with the text editor in programs such as Word. On this page we explain the basic functionality.

Toolbar

At the top of the text editor you see a grey toolbar with icons. Hover with your mouse over an icon and you will see a hint regarding the functionality. Some functions, like bold text, operate as direct action on the text (select text, press B).

The most usefull features in the toolbar:

Paste as plain text Paste as plain text
Link Insert/edit link (See Create a link)
Image Insert/edit picture (See Add a news article with a photo)
Insert/edit video Insert/edit video (See Add a video)
Remove formatting Remove formatting
Table Insert/edit table
Insert special character Insert special character

In the textfield you can also use the right mouse button to click on a link, table or picture to edit the properties.

Paste

Sometimes it is more convenient to copy text from another program (like Word) and paste it into the text field. However this will not always give you the same result as the original, because of the limitations of the various browsers the visitors of your website are using.

When you paste the text, a popup window can appear where you can confirm your action. If the result is not what you had hoped for, you can make adjustments. If you want to have full control over the text markup you can click on Plain text (paste a plain text), then you can use the functionality of the text editor to markup the text. When you have a text with a bad markup (different colors, fonts), you can select the text and click on Remove formatting(Remove formatting).
